Summer 2010 concerts at the Wells Harbor Park

Wells Harbor free concert

The concerts at the Wells Harbor Park are one of the best kept secrets of the summer. Admission is free, if you enjoy the concert you are encouraged to make a donation to offset expenses. On the busiest nights there is always room for three times the number of concert-goers. Plenty of free parking close by.

The quality of these concerts has been getting better and better every year. 2008 was great and the talent booked for 2009 is even better.

There is plenty of room to move around if you feel like dancing or take a stroll down to the harbor with your sweety.

Bring a cushion if you plan on using the benches or folding chairs or a blanket just in case the benches are all taken. Concerts start at 6:30. Some insect repellent is a good idea on many nights but you may be pleasantly surprised. On some evenings the breeze is just enough to keep the bugs at bay.

This schedule is for the 2009 series of concerts.

July 3, 60's Invasion

Will you remember this year as the summer of Love? This group sounds just like their name. I mean that in a good way of course.

July 10, The Uproots

From the Uproots Myspace page: "We are a four piece band featuring outstanding vocals, ripping guitar, gentle percussion, and bass. We play real country, blues, light rock, and soul with influences from Patsy Cline, Dylan, Petty, Elvis 1, Elvis 2, Sam Cooke, Beatles, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and way more."

July 17, The Blind Pilots

The Blind Pilots have a contemporary blues style.

July 24, Corona Brothers

On a stage adorned with pink flamingoes and palm trees the Corona Brothers will give us a combination of Carribean and Californian beach music, blending Jimmy Buffet and Harry Belafonte.

July 31, Straight Lace

A great mix of oldies, jazz, easy listening, rock and funk. These folks are my favorite local band. No wait, nix that, nix the word local. This concert is always one of the most appreciated of the summer. Don't miss it!

Aug. 7, Wooden Eye

Featuring veteran musicians Bob Halperin, Mike Rogers, Joe Rogers and Dan MacLellan. This concert should inlcude a wide variety of music from "crash-and-burn roots rock" to traditional ballads.

Aug. 14, Eddie Forman Orchestra AKA "E.F.O."

This is Polka night for Wells Harbor. The Eddie Forman Orchestra will entertain with standard polkas and traditional Polish lyrics.

Aug. 21, All Together Now

Beatles tribute band that is always very popular with the Wells audience. This is another that I consider a "don't miss" concert.

Aug. 28, Mac McHale

Mac and The Old Time Radio Gang

also on Aug. 28. ChiliFest

Don't miss the 10th Annual ChiliFest. This year the Chilifest will be held at Wells Junior High School on U.S. Route 1. for more information see www.wellschilifest.com

September 4, The New Legacy Swing Band

Big band swing with a jazz singer to round out the sound. The New Legacy Swing Band bagan life as 'The Little Swing Band' and now has over 600 songs in the repertoire! Swing, dance, latin, polka, waltzes as well as big band tunes.
